Galson Laboratories Performs Critical Services At Sites Related To Terrorism, Donates Profits To Relief Effort
East Syracuse, NY - Galson Laboratories, a full-service, fully certified industrial hygiene laboratory, has been called upon by several private firms and two government departments to provide critical air analysis at key sites of the September 11 disasters. Working for federal and New York state agencies, as well as a host of environmental consultants and remediation companies, Galson is helping identify possible airborne pollutants in an effort to protect the well being of relief workers.
Galson will donate all profits from work related to the September 11 terrorist attacks to the New York Police & Fire Widows & Children's Benefit Fund.
"We knew there would be significant environmental issues after this tragedy, and our first instinct was to help in any way we can," said Joe Unangst, president of Galson Laboratories. "We're in the business of helping people work in a healthier environment, and safeguarding the health of these heroic relief workers is the best way we can contribute."
Galson is providing analytical results from air samples at various sites including the former World Trade Center ("ground zero"), the Pentagon, various transfer stations and landfills for such hazards as asbestos, dust, silica, metals, lead, mercury, and organic chemicals. Typically, results are used to determine whether exposure has occurred, and if so, that proper protective equipment is provided to relief workers.
